Group dental insurance
Dental coverage is one of the benefits employees use most and appreciate most, and it costs far less than medical coverage. We compare plans across carriers and help you choose one your team will actually use.
What group dental plans cover
Most plans cover three levels of care at different percentages: preventive care (cleanings and exams), basic services (such as fillings) and major services (such as crowns and bridges). Some plans add orthodontics.
Plan types we compare
- Dental PPO: employees can see any dentist, with lower costs in the network.
- Dental HMO (DHMO): lower premiums, with care from a network dentist.
- Waiting periods, annual maximums and orthodontic coverage vary by plan, and we lay them out side by side.
Employer-paid or voluntary
You can pay for dental coverage, share the cost with employees, or offer it as a voluntary benefit that employees pay for through payroll deduction at group rates.
Common questions
Can I offer dental without a group medical plan?
In many cases, yes. Group dental plans can often be offered on their own. We will confirm the options with each carrier.
What is a voluntary benefit?
A voluntary benefit is coverage offered through your company that employees choose and pay for themselves, usually through payroll deduction, often at a better rate than they could get on their own.
